Summary of Position
The community partner for this Summer Student Intern position through the Clean Leadership program will be the Town of Wolfville reporting to the Climate Change Mitigation Coordinator.
In this position, you will be mainly responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of a community climate action program called Inspire Wolfville, aimed at reducing GHG emissions and specifically addresses the values, interests, and needs of the Wolfville community.
The Town of Wolfville is a community of approximately 4000 residents – climbing to over 8000 when Acadia University is in session – located in the North Wester portion of Nova Scotia. The Town is situated on the Cornwallis River at the mouth of the Minas Basin, which is part of the Bay of Fundy, home to the world’s highest tides.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Developing, refining, implementing and evaluating community climate action pilot projects
• Outreach and communications to members of the public, project partners and community stakeholders
• Promoting project goals
• Recruiting volunteers and participants
• Coordinating project participants and community volunteers
• Collecting and evaluating project impact and survey data, and participant feedback and input
• Planning activities and events
Must be a Canadian citizen or legally entitled to work in Canada;
Must be between the ages of 15 and 30;
Must be a full-time student and intending to return to school in fall 2020;
Is not a member of immediate family of community partner;
Have an aptitude for safe work practices and the ability to multi-task in a busy work environment;
Be able to work productively as part of a team while responding to feedback;
Demonstrated interest in future employment in the environmental or ‘green’ sector is considered an asset; and
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, in a respectful and professional manner, in dealing with the public.
