Summary of Position
The community partner for this Summer Student Intern position through the Clean Leadership program will be Carleton University (Efficiency Canada), reporting to the Communications and Media Lead. In this position, you will be mainly responsible for curating the Our Human Energy website (www.ourhumanenergy.org), making social media posts, engaging in social listening, press and media relations, and more. The successful candidate needs to have skills in writing, editing, basic graphic design, and website content management.

Community Partner
Efficiency Canada is the national voice for an energy efficient economy. Our mission is to create a sustainable environment and better life for all Canadians by making our country a global leader in energy efficiency policy, technology, and jobs.

We conduct rigorous policy analysis; communicate compelling narratives; and convene and mobilize Canada’s dynamic energy efficiency sector.

Efficiency Canada is housed at Carleton University’s Sustainable Energy Research Centre in Ottawa, however there are team members across Canada.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Manage the delivery of the Our Human Energy (OHE) campaign across four social channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter)
 Manage OHE website updates
 Interview and write profiles of new OHE “energy champions” across Canada
 Pitch OHE stories to media outlets
 Implement the creation of an OHE job board for energy efficiency workers across Canada

Requirements/Qualifications
 Must be a Canadian citizen or legally entitled to work in Canada;
 Must be between the ages of 15 and 30;
 Must be a full-time student and intending to return to school in fall 2020;
 Is not a member of immediate family of community partner;
 Have an aptitude for safe work practices and the ability to multi-task in a busy work environment;
 Be able to work productively as part of a team while responding to feedback;
 Demonstrated interest in future employment in the environmental or ‘green’ sector is considered an asset;
 Skills or education in communications, journalism, graphic design, video editing are an asset;
 French language skills considered a strong asset;
 Ability to work remotely, manage time, check-in daily with the team on a video call, and a personal computer are all requirements.

The intern will be working in a remote role, meeting and working with colleagues across Canada in a digital environment.

Physical Requirements
This position requires a comfortable space in a home, library, or a shared office space to work.
