Our interactive stormwater infographic can help you manage rainwater and runoff on your property.

Stormwater

Stormwater

It’s always stormwater season in the Atlantic

It can rain – a lot – in any season in Atlantic Canada. And that rain can cause a lot of problems, even in cities.

Water that pools on the ground during periods of heavy rain and snowmelt is called stormwater. It can spread harmful pollutants like fertilizers, pesticides, oil, and garbage into nearby rivers, lakes, and the ocean. It can also lead to costly flooding events and can even cause sewer systems to backup and overflow.

And with climate change models indicating our region will experience storms of increasing severity in the coming years, we need to adapt our stormwater systems now.

That’s why Clean launched a stormwater program to help reduce the negative impacts of storms, water flow and flooding. Our work includes:

    • Atlantic Stormwater Initiative – a region-wide project that aims to support climate change adaptation by reducing the negative impacts of stormwater runoff.
