CLEAN ACROSS NOVA SCOTIA
Kudos to Sperry Design for a design proposal that was a hit – looking forward to working together on an exciting campaign!
JUNE 8 & 9, 2012 -
The biggest clean up in Nova Scotia history.
..and more.
You may have heard of our Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up (GNSPMU) program before. Eighteen years in, the GNSPMU has engaged over 300, 000 volunteers to help clean up litter around the province. It’s great fun. It’s a wonderful example of stewardship in a province that cares. It reconnects us to our environment, and to each other.
Now, in June 2012, the bar is being raised. Clean Nova Scotia has partnered with local and international partners to organize the first ever World Cleanup Day 2012, and excitement is running high. Estonia inspired the whole thing when they cleaned up over 10,000 tons of garbage in 5 hours. So we’re in some pretty amazing company, and the project is aiming to engage 100 countries from all parts of the world. It’s going to be big.
Our Nova Scotia branch of this project is called Clean Across Nova Scotia, and we believe that we can raise the level of community engagement across the region through participating in this local manifestation of international camaraderie. Nova Scotians are well-known in Canada for having a stronger-than-average sense of community, culture and identity, and this is an amazing chance to remind ourselves of the strength that community and cooperation gives us.
On June 8 & 9, we’re mobilizing 25,000 people across the province in the biggest volunteer effort in Nova Scotia history. Not only will we be part of a massive showing of stewardship and community care, but we’ll be doing it in collaboration with more than 85 countries across the world – a truly amazing feat.
So if you’re interested in being part of a group of local and international stewards of community and the environment, this is the place for you. It will be an amazing thing to see hundreds of thousands (it’s looking like millions, now) of people around the world working together in concert, and Nova Scotia is poised to show the world what community is all about.
Here’s How It All Started
